| | | Principal Bombardir Rocks the School 5/19/2008 3:00 PMHorace Mann students read over 500,000 minutes in February shattering the school goal of 400,000 minutes. Reaching the goal meant that Mr. Litwin had to go down and "work" with the Wild for a day. Former Wild player and Stanley Cup Winner Brad Bombardir arrived bright and early on Friday, May 16 to be Principal for a Day. He began his day with energy and enthusiasm. After a short meeting with his Assistant Principal Colin Chase, Principal Bombardir gave the morning announcements declaring extra recess and no homework for the weekend. The students cheered these announcements and welcomed Principal Bombardir into their classrooms throughout the day.
Meanwhile, down at the Excel Energy Center, the front office was on vacation. The players had gone home for the summer. Mr. Litwin was dismayed to find that the only work left to do this season was to sweep up the seats. So he spent his day sweeping old peanut shells and popcorn.
Principal Bombardir and Assistant Principal Colin Chase had a busy day too. They conducted a fire drill with the students. They made many announcements. They passed out candy and compliments. At the end of the day, Principal Bombardir remarked that he was tired out and did not realize how much hard work there was for a principal. The students thanked him for a terrific day.
