Once your child has been identified as eligible to participate in our high potential programs, our school's Gifted and Talented Specialist will work together with you and your child's teacher to determine which program(s) best meet your child's needs.
Math Enrichment This program is offered to students who demonstrate advanced mathematical capabilities and who possess high abilities in analytical reasoning and computation.
Inquiry Students whose academic performance is significantly above grade level and whose needs go beyond the usual classroom curriculum will find Inquiry an exciting program. This rigorous academic experience fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity and higher-order thinking challenges. Admission into Inquiry is selective, and is based on individual strengths and talents.
Collaboration The focus of this model is on co-teaching and communication among the teachers. The classroom teacher and G/T specialist team teach to meet a wide range of learners more efficiently. Instruction is provided in the regular classroom and is designed based on the needs of the students.
Junior Great Books Students read classic
literature appropriate for their ability and interest level, and engage
in discussion of content and opinions with an adult discussion
facilitator. This program utilizes the Shared Inquiry method of discussion, which teaches students to support their assertions and opinions with textual evidence.
