Pond Life--Exploring Macro-organisms 5/20/2008 10:02 AMThe students began their class indoors, learning about a variety of aquatic organisms and the tools to learn more. Then they headed to the pond. Students traded shoes, flip-flops, and notebooks for waders and nets. They worked very hard to catch examples of a variety of aquatic organisms. Once everyone had ample time to capture, record, and talk about the wildlife it was time to return to the classroom. There the students identified the auqatic organisms, learned how their adaptations allowed for survival in an aquatic habitat, and explored how bio-indicators (organisms sensitive to environmental changes) help humans understand how our actions can impact aquatic ecosystems.
