Purpose:  The purpose of the Horace Mann Public Relations Committee is:

-To increase community awareness regarding Horace Mann School's long standing reputation as an institution of higher achievement, learning and academic excellence.

-To assist the principal, faculty and all working committees of the school in maximizing student enrollment and retention through public relation efforts.

Accountability: The Horace Mann School Public Relations Committee will be accountable to its personal mission, school mission, the school principal and SCIP Plan.

Decision Making Authority: Decisions regarding public relations activities will be based upon input from the Horace Mann School Site Council, PTA, Grants Committee, teachers & staff, parents and community.  The school principal will decide on the appropriateness of each initiative.

Various activities and responsibilities of the Public Relations Committee include:

• Serves as a Public Relations/Communications resource to all committees (and sub-committees) of the school in meeting their needs with flyer/announcement design, news releases, photos, web articles, etc. 
• Designs and maintains branding and identity standards for the school. 
• Designs and develops all official collateral (brochures, etc.) materials for the school. 
• Represents Horace Mann School at the district "Parent Information Fair."
• Coordinates the annual Horace Mann School Winter/Spring Open House.
• Responsible for maintaining the school website www.mann.spps,org
• Maintains an opt in / opt out broadcast e-mail as an additional way to keep stakeholders informed of school activities and events. 
• Meets with chairs of other working committees of the school (PTA, Site Council and Grant Committee's) several times during the academic year.
• Responsible for the coordination and project management of special events as requested by the school principal (i.e. alumni anniversary celebrations, etc.)
