To best meet the diverse needs of the Gifted and Talented students at Horace Mann School, service is provided in a number of different formats--The Renaissance Program, The Math Enrichment Group, The Inquiry Group, Independent Student Projects and more.

In our English Language Learners program students in kindergarten through sixth grade are taught speaking, reading, listening, and writing skills in English to help them access the mainstream classroom in curriculum.

Our Phy Ed Program concentrates on developing an understanding of motor skills and physical fitness.

Science & Technology is taught with an inquiry approach to learning. Through hands-on, minds-on experiments students explore scientific concepts and scientific processes.  Projects completed in the computer lab focus on topics that students are studying in science or in their classroom.

Vocal & Instrumental Music is a joy-filled experience. Vocal Music is taught in every grade, K-6. In each class, students learn about what makes music: melody, harmony, rhythm & tone color.  Students develop vocal skills, making their voice the best musical instrument it can be.  Music classes meet on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.  The Mann Instrumental Music program is available to all the 5th & 6th graders.  The students attend one 30 minute small group lesson and one 50 minute large group rehearsal per week.  In addition, some of the more advanced players have the opportunity to play in small ensemble working on more challenging music. The band typically performs 2 concerts in the spring; one during the school day for the students and an evening concert. Instrumentation in the band includes: flute, oboe, clarinet, bass clarinet, alto and tenor saxaphone, french horn, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba and percussion.
