| Home Folders: This is the place to look for announcements, notices, completed/graded work, and homework, which will be marked with an “H” at the top. Please empty the folder daily and look at everything your child has done. It’s a way for you to follow the concepts that are taught, monitor academic progress, and show your child how important school is. The HOME FOLDER needs to be here at school every day.
Daily Work: Daily work should be finished during the school day. Unfinished work needs to be completed at home and returned the next day.
Math: There’s an assignment called HOME LINK for each math lesson, so there will be several of these a week. They should not take more than 15 minutes to complete. You will get a letter at the beginning of each unity that explains concepts and vocabulary; it also gives the answers to all the Home Links for the unit.
Spelling (weekly): The list is passed out on Monday, and the test is on Friday.
Alphabet Research (weekly): The question slip and project is due each Friday, although there will be two weeks between some of the topics, depending on our school schedule or calendar. Please see the page titled Alphabet Research for an explanation of this homework.
Reading Calendar (monthly, 20 minutes 5 times a week): Record the minutes on the calendar and the book titles on the back. Return it at the end of each month. You can count minutes that you read to your child. Remember to include reading done for the Alphabet Research and book reports.
Book Reports (every 4-6 weeks): These reports are creative and relate to topics and skills in the classroom. For example, the first report teaches how to present an oral summary of a book.
