Fund Raising Events

The PTA facilitates fundraising for Horace Mann School and is a partner in community building activities.  Our fundraising provides for educational equipment and supplies like library books and computer technology.  Funds also support classroom enrichment activities and extra-curricular activities which enhance the regular curriculum. The Horace Mann School PTA is very successful due to the overwhelming involvement and dedication of the school community. Parents, guardians, extended families, teachers and staff who consistently go out of their way help to ensure the education and well-being of our children.

Box Tops For Education: The GM proof of purchase is collected.  The box tops are redeemed for cash from General Mills. Contact: Nancy Wagner, 698-6783, nancyjwagner@comcast.net.

Caps Fundraiser:
Kemps and Land O Lakes caps or proof-of-purchase symbols are collected.  The caps and proof of purchases are redeemed for cash.  Contact: Betty Haley, 690-1441, thehaley5@juno.com.

Target - Take Charge Of Education:Target donates 1% of all qualifying purchases made with a Target Guest Card to the designated school.  To apply for a Target Card or to designate Horace Mann School, call 1.800.316.6142.

Fall Fund-Raiser: Catalogs containing gift wrap, candy, and gift items are sent home with students in late September.  This fund-raiser requires 1coordinator and 5-7 volunteers. Contact: Deanna Olson, 603-1631, deannaolson@usfamily.net

Read-A-Thon: Students collect pledges for the minutes they read.  Prizes are awarded to children who complete their monthly reading calendars.  The event requires 1 coordinator and 10-15 volunteers. Contact: Julie Schulz, 690-4034, jschulz675@comcast.net.

Silent Auction: ew and improved-this event has become
a parents’ night out.  Items from many local merchants and school families are auctioned off at an evening dinner event. Contact:

Scholastic Book Fair: The book fair occurs in November.  Scholastic books are sold 3-4 days in the library.  The proceeds from the sale are used by the librarian to update the library collection. Contact: Chris Aerts, 699-6575, chrisbillaerts@comcast.net.

Spring Plant Sale: This spring fundraising project sells plants from Gertens Nursery (via pre-paid orders).   The sale requires 1-2 coordinators and 5-10 volunteers are needed the day of delivery. Contact: Kari Chase, 690-4432, karichase@gmail.com.

Horace Mann Coffee: The PTA has partnered with a local roaster to sell fair trade, organic, shade grown coffee.  Your coffee is delivered to you every two weeks via your child. This project requires 1 volunteer. Contact: Liz Krelitz  651-698-6107  kreli6@aol.com.
