Evaluation of Student Work
Test.jpg
Some of the work that the students turn in will be graded so that scores align with the student report card as follows:

1:  Beginning skills relative to the expectation at this point in the year.

2: Developing skills relative to the expectation at this point in the year.

3: Proficient skills relative to the expectation at this point in the year.

4: Exceptional skills and is working about two grade levels above grade placement.

Our Everyday Math curriculum aligns with our report cards as follows, and you will see a progress checklist after each unit test:

B: Beginning

D: Developing

S:  Secure (i.e. proficient)

The Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments and a nationally normed achievement test yet to be determined will be administered in the spring.  When we prepare students for some of this testing, we will familiarize them with scores of 1 – 4.  Those scores mean the same as B, D, P, and E.

Students receive ongoing input to help them understand how to improve their responses.  We orally discuss how answers can be expanded and made clearer and more specific; children see examples of Proficient/Exceptional work; and leading questions and comments are written on papers and/or discussed one-on-one.  Students are encouraged to look carefully at their work when they get it back and to ask questions if the don’t understand feedback.
