You may be wondering what enrichment programs and opportunities will be available to your child after he/she leaves Horace Mann School. Some parents may be looking at K - 8 institutions which have a gifted and talented curriculum exclusively, in their effort to secure a place in an academically accelerated high school program such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) or Quest.
Rest assured: one your child has been identified as gifted and talented, that distinction will remain with your child throughout his or her K – 12 years. This means your child will receive access to gifted and talented services at local junior high and middle schools. Your child will continue the high quality, challenging, enriching journey they began at Horace Mann School.
It is interesting to note that there is no significant difference in the number of students coming from Horace Mann School and those coming from gifted and talented curriculum-exclusive schools, matriculating into those accelerated high school programs. The bottom line: our students end up in the same place as those students coming from K – 8 Gifted and Talented schools.
